Rahul Babu, founder of LexAI — an AI platform built for Indian corporate law firms, fine-tuned for Indian legal context. Starting with contract review automation for firms with 50+ lawyers. Direct access to managing partners at three of India's top corporate firms, facilitated through a personal introduction from the former Chief Justice of India.

LexAI is the AI layer for Indian corporate law — starting with contract review for firms with 50+ lawyers.

01 · The Problem
Indian corporate law runs on associate hours.
A single M&A diligence at a top Indian firm burns hundreds of billable hours on contract review — associates line-by-line checking for non-standard clauses, missing terms, and risk flags. Global tools like Harvey and Spellbook don't handle Indian contract law well: our clauses, our conventions, our statutory references. The work gets done, but the margin gets eaten — and the best associates burn out on review instead of strategy.
02 · The Solution
An LLM fine-tuned for Indian legal context.
LexAI reads contracts the way a senior associate does — understanding Indian commercial conventions, statutory references, and firm-specific preferences. Wedge product: contract review automation that flags deviations from firm templates, missing clauses, and risk terms in minutes, not hours. Expansion: legal research, client intake, compliance — the full AI stack for the Indian corporate firm.

◆ The unfair advantage
01
Access most founders can't buy.
A personal introduction from the former Chief Justice of India gave me direct dialogue with managing partners at three of India's top corporate firms. Most founders spend a year and ₹50L to open these doors. I used the time to design the product around real pain, not assumed pain.
02
Technical depth for the AI side.
Patent published at 19 for an AI medical imaging system (YOLOv8, IP app. 202641022498). AI internship at TCS building CV+RL systems for children with cognitive disabilities. Concurrent CS at VIT and Data Science at IIT Madras. I can build the thing, not just sell it.
03
Shipping, not planning.
Shipped Laundroswipe — a real two-sided marketplace with 600+ active users. Co-founded Innaya Nutri Foods — a registered FMCG startup, product live. I know how to build, launch, and operate. The playbook is built, not theorized.

Prototype. Validation. Pivoted already.

  • Problem validation: Six weeks of dialogue with managing partners at 3 top Indian corporate firms.
  • Pivot: Moved from legal research (crowded, hard to monetize) to contract review (specific pain, clear willingness to pay).
  • Build: LLM prototype in active development, fine-tuned on Indian legal corpus.
  • Next 90 days: Ship working prototype · Convert one of the three relationships into a paid pilot · Prove review-time reduction on a real contract type.

A pilot customer. Or an introduction to one.

I'm not raising a round yet. What I need now is one Indian corporate law firm willing to pilot the prototype. One firm that trusts me enough to let LexAI read a real diligence document. In exchange, they get the first version built around their workflow and pricing locked for 24 months.

If you're an operator, partner, or investor who can make that introduction — or fund the 6-month path from pilot to production — let's talk.

Built an object-detection game teaching specially-abled children in an orphanage to identify everyday objects — with reinforcement learning for positive feedback.

One-month AI internship at Tata Consultancy Services, Trivandrum. The CSR brief asked for an engaging learning tool for children with cognitive disabilities. I built an object-detection game where children hold up a placard — the model identifies the object in real time, and a reinforcement-learning loop rewards correct identification to build confidence and retention.

3rd · Roborave India
National robotics competition, age 12. Selected for international round.

I've been building since grade three.

The pattern is older than the portfolio.

I started taking things apart in grade three. Whatever was around — toys, remotes, battery-powered anything. Most of them didn't survive. Some of them taught me.

By grade six I was on Arduino and Lego Mindstorms. Sensors, motors, line-followers, obstacle-avoiders. I wasn't solving anything important yet — but I was learning how to make something that wasn't there a minute ago.

At twelve I took 3rd place at Roborave India — a national robotics competition — and qualified for the international round that same year. That's when it stopped being a hobby and started being a pattern.

At fifteen, during lockdown, I started Mortal Magazine — a tech review publication — and cold-called Samsung India's CEO's office for an interview. I didn't land the interview. I did ship six issues and earn four hundred dollars in ad revenue before board exams paused it.

At nineteen I started shipping AI: a U-Net for MRI tumour segmentation, a smart mirror that detected acne with YOLOv8 (the patent application 202641022498 was filed and published), a Raspberry Pi dog that reacted to touch. The Smart Mirror took 2nd Prize at VIT's IAIC 2025.

At twenty I co-founded a registered startup in packaged food (Innaya Nutri Foods) and built Laundroswipe — launched March 15, 2025 and now serving 600+ active student users across VIT Chennai with a five-person team.

Today I'm at VIT Chennai for Computer Science, IIT Madras for Data Science, preparing for CFA Level 1 (August 2026), heading to Harvard HPAIR 2026 as a delegate, and actively building four more products across PropTech, LegalTech, and SE Asia logistics. The through-line is the same one grade-three me started: take the problem, build the thing, ship it, learn what was wrong, rebuild.
